Guess what! We had a winter snow storm come through the desert and while you all on the east coast were getting lots of snow, we got graupel.
Merriam-Webster (that's some really smart person who knows what everything in the world is) says that graupel is snow pellets or sometimes its called soft hail. I don't know about that. It sure looked like snow to me.
It was really cold when we went for a walk. Mom said it was 38 degrees and she wore gloves and a scarf. We don't wear those things very much here in the desert, so you know it was really cold. At least for us.
There was real snow on the mountains.
And they said that just 3 miles north of us, Scottsdale had snow instead of graupel. But I'd rather have graupel. It's more fun to say!
Anyway, the graupel melted quickly as did the snow on the mountains. It's three days later and it's 77 degrees. That's more like desert weather.
Hope you are enjoying your snow or your graupel (or your 77 degrees!)
Love, G
